VENTURA, CA – Dr. Sonia Devgan Kacker, a board-certified family physician with 26 years of medical practice in Ventura County, has announced her candidacy for California’s 26th Congressional District, with a campaign focused on healthcare, small business support, and evidence-based policymaking.
Kacker, a Democrat, has professional roots in Ventura County that span over two decades. An alumna of Stanford University and the University of California, Irvine, she began her career as a staff physician, later serving as Medical Director, and went on to become the owner of a medical center.
Kacker’s policy platform emphasizes healthcare access and affordability, including lowering prescription drug costs. On economic issues, she has highlighted support for small businesses, advocating for simplified regulations, more affordable healthcare options for employers, and workforce development through partnerships between community colleges and local industries.
She has also underscored the importance of data-driven governance, supporting science-based approaches to public health and climate policy, as well as responsible technology development. “As an urgent care physician and small business owner, I see firsthand how decisions in Washington affect patients, employees, and families here in CA-26,” she said. “I’m not a career politician-I solve problems for a living.”
California’s 26th Congressional District, which has several contenders from the Democratic party, spans Ventura County and parts of Los Angeles County including the cities of Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Moorpark, Santa Paula, Agoura Hills, and Westlake Village. The primary is on June 2.
