WASHINGTON, DC – The US Department of State has fully launched its new online passport renewal system, marking a significant improvement in access to passport services for Americans. The new system allows citizens to renew their passports through a secure online process, eliminating the need for paper applications and mailed checks.
This online platform is part of a broader effort by the Department to modernize government services, aligning with President Biden’s Executive Order on transforming federal customer service. The goal is to provide a more efficient and convenient passport renewal process for Americans.
In addition to the digital upgrade, increased staffing and technological advancements have reduced processing times, a press release said. Currently, routine passport applications are being processed in about one-third of the time it took last summer, with most being completed well under the advertised six to eight weeks.
