SACRAMENTO, CA— Representative Ami Bera (D–CA) is entering the final stretch of the year with nearly $2 million in campaign cash, underscoring his readiness for what could be another competitive election cycle as California prepares to redraw its congressional map under Proposition 50.

Bera’s campaign announced on October 16 that the veteran lawmaker, now in his sixth term, is well positioned to run in either the new Third or Sixth Congressional District once the new boundaries take effect. Both districts are projected to lean Democratic with a D+6 baseline, according to nonpartisan analysts. Vice President Kamala Harris carried the newly drawn Third by about 10 points and the Sixth by roughly 8 points in the 2024 election.

Bera, who has represented parts of the Sacramento area since 2013, has roots that run through about 60 percent of either district — a factor his campaign believes gives him a strong foothold no matter how the lines fall.

In the current configuration, Bera outperformed Harris by 2.4 points in CA-06, a sign of his ability to attract support across party lines in swing neighborhoods. His campaign pointed to that margin as proof he can exceed even a favorable Democratic baseline.

“Our campaign is ready to win and help Democrats take back the House majority so we can hold Donald Trump accountable and deliver real results for the American people,” Bera said in a statement. “I’m proud of my record of getting things done even in the face of partisan gridlock — and I’ll keep fighting to make government work for hardworking families, end the dysfunction in Washington, and deliver for the greater Sacramento region, whether it’s in the new Third District or the new Sixth.”
