Ani Dasgupta To Head Rockefeller’s Climate Council

WASHINGTON, DC – Ani Dasgupta has been named as an inaugural member of the newly launched Climate Advisory Council, by the Rockefeller Foundation.

The council is tasked with advancing people-centered climate solutions that reduce emissions and support vulnerable communities. Dasgupta, the CEO of the World Resources Institute, brings extensive expertise in sustainable cities, urban design, and poverty alleviation, will serve alongside other global leaders to guide the Foundation’s climate strategy, a press release said.

Dasgupta, originally from Delhi, resides in Washington, D.C. He holds master’s degrees in city planning and architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Climate Advisory Council is part of The Rockefeller Foundation’s $1 billion commitment to a global climate transition, targeting net-zero greenhouse gas emissions for its endowment by 2050. It will meet will meet three to four times a year.

Others on the council who will serve a term of two years include Alok Sharma, COP26 President and Climate and Finance Fellow at the Foundation, Arunabha Ghosh, Founder-CEO, Council on Energy, Environment, and Water, and Archana Soreng, Khadia Tribe, India; former Member of the United Nations Secretary General’s Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change 2020-2023
