Ashwin Ramaswami Condemns Attacks Against Kamala, Usha Vance

ATLANTA, GA – Ashwin Ramaswami, the GenZ Democratic candidate for the Georgia State Senate, has strongly condemned the recent bigoted attacks targeting Vice President Kamala Harris, Usha Vance, and other Indian Americans.
“Recent examples, such as reports of Republicans calling Vice President Kamala Harris a ‘DEI hire’ or attacking her based on her race, or the racist attacks against Hindu American Usha Vance and Sikh American Harmeet Dhillon at the GOP Convention, are against the very fabric of our democracy,” Ramaswami stated.
The son of immigrants, Ramaswami in a recent statement, emphasized the significance of President Joe Biden endorsing Kamala Harris for president, saying, “Vice President Harris will make history as the first Indian-American President of the United States. It will be an inspiration to millions of people who don’t see themselves reflected in our politics.”
He also shared pictures on social media highlighting his similar background to Harris.
Ramaswami joins a growing number of politicians speaking out against such attacks, following Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi’s recent condemnation of the racist reaction to Republican National Committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon’s recital of the Sikh prayer ‘ardas’ at the Republican National Convention. The case of Vance and Dhillon was peculiar in particular with fellow Republicans attacking them. Republican leaders recently met and warned party members against using overtly racist and sexist attacks against Harris.

Ramaswami and Krishnamoorti are right. The RePugs just can’t help themselves, I guess. Their racism and misogyny will bubble up to the surface, even to attack one of their own! I may disagree with Usha V. and Harmeet Dhillon (no relation!) but they totally DO NOT deserve such disrespect from any others in the political arena. Really disappointing to see such “leaders” stooping so low.
