India-West Staff Reporter |
WASHINGTON, DC – Bhumi Global, expressed its strong disappointment in the June 30 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that limits the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to regulate climate change. The 6-3 decision in West Virginia vs. EPA, it said “hamstrings the federal government’s ability to use all the tools at its disposal to combat the climate crisis.”It pointed out that it does not, as had been feared, “limit the EPA’s ability to regulate greenhouse gases, which was codified in the 2007 Massachusetts vs. EPA decision, it does hamstring our ability to use the power of the federal government to confront an existential threat.”Expressing dismay that SCOTUS had made this an issue to be dealt with by a divided Congress, which for years been unable to pass climate change legislation, Bhumi vowed to continue to work with to see “long-lasting change at the local level while advocating for stronger policies to protect Mother Earth.” |
