Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar Highlights Role Of Diaspora In India’s Growth
BHUBANESHWAR, (ANI) – Ravi Kumar, CEO of Cognizant, emphasized the importance of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, highlighting how it both recognizes the accomplishments of the Indian diaspora and encourages them to stay connected to their roots. He stressed the significant role the diaspora can play in India’s journey towards becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, helping to build a bridge between India and the rest of the world while contributing to the country’s economic and geopolitical growth.
Kumar was honored by President Droupadi Murmu for his contributions. Originally from Odisha, Ravi Kumar was appointed CEO of Cognizant in January 2023. Prior to this, he served as President of Infosys from 2016 to 2022. Early in his career, Kumar worked as a nuclear scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center in India.
When asked how the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award could benefit the Indian economy, Kumar explained, “This year’s conference theme is about how the diaspora can play a role in achieving Viksit Bharat—making India a developed nation by 2047, which marks 100 years of India’s independence. The Indian diaspora has achieved significant success, and their ability to stay connected with India, contribute back, and bridge the gap between the world and India is crucial.”
He further noted that these awards serve as motivation for the 35 million Indians living abroad to “make a difference in India, in the world, and in the countries where they currently live.”
