Drama Series ‘Real Kashmir Football Club’ Earns International Emmy Nomination

MUMBAI-Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub has dedicated the International Emmy nomination for the drama series ‘Real Kashmir Football Club’ to the people of Kashmir, saying he hopes the recognition will help the story reach a wider audience.

The series has been nominated in the Drama Series category at the International Emmy Awards. Ayyub plays Sohail Meer in the show, which also stars actor Manav Kaul.

“It is always special to see our labor of love reach people and receive recognition. This was an important and relevant story for us to tell, a story of resilience, courage and hard work,” Ayyub said.

“We dedicate this recognition to the people of Kashmir, their resilience and the struggles they have endured. I hope this nomination helps the story travel further and reach a wider audience.”

Inspired by a true story, ‘Real Kashmir Football Club’ follows two men and 20 underdog players as they pursue the dream of building a professional football team in Kashmir. What begins as a distant ambition, tested by setbacks, small triumphs and personal sacrifice, grows into a story of determination, community and the possibilities that football opens up for those around them.

Mahesh Mathai, showrunner and co-director of the series, said the Emmy nomination was recognition for a story that had been nurtured over a long journey.

“When you come across a great story, don’t let it pass you by. Grab a hold of, nurture it, love it, and push it through that long tunnel. It will find the light,” Mathai said.

“We are honored that this special series has found global recognition through an Emmy nomination.”

Produced by Jaya Entertainment and Oshun Entertainment, the series features Abhishant Rana, Muazzam Bhat, Priya Chauhan, Anmol Thakeriadhillon, Afnan Fazli and Shaheem Bhat.

The show is directed by Mathai and Rajesh Mapuskar and written by Simaab Hashmi, Dhruv Narang, Mathai, Danish Renzu and Umang Vyas. (IANS)
