LONG BEACH, CA – The Global Peace Foundation celebrated Holi at Junipero Beach here, on Mar.20. The celebration of the festival was combined with beach cleaning and a pot-luck picnic for the over 80 people who participated.

The event was organized by Dr. Manorama Gupta, president of GPF along with UNA-USA, VHPA-LA and other local organizations and with the help and coordination of Radhika Patel, Yatri Shukla and Nila Parikh.

From toddlers to seniors all attendees were elated to be part of the festivities. The participants spent time picking up trash, plastic items, and many other items deemed dangerous to marine life. The children especially loved helping clean the beach while enjoying the sea-front view. The Recreation and Park Department of City of Long Beach provided free gloves, garbage bags and free parking at the beach for all attendees.

A representative from Long Beach Mayor Robert Gracia’s office and Willian Moses Summerville – congressional candidate – came by and interacted with GPF members.

After enjoying beach cleaning and the food, everyone was given dry colored powders of many shades. All joyously participated, applying color on each other.
