Hegseth To Rajnath: Washington Stands With India In Fight Against Terrorism
NEW DELHI (ANI) – U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth extended condolences to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on May 1 regarding the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which tragically claimed 26 lives.
Hegseth conveyed Washington’s strong support for India’s fight against terrorism, reaffirming the United States’ solidarity with New Delhi. “The U.S. supports India’s right to defend itself,” stated the Defence Minister’s Office.
In response, Singh reiterated India’s concerns about Pakistan’s longstanding role in harboring and supporting terrorist groups. He emphasized to Hegseth, “It is important for the global community to explicitly and unequivocally condemn such heinous acts of terrorism.”
This exchange occurs amidst heightened tensions following the Pahalgam attack. Prior to this call, on April 23, the Cabinet Committee on Security received a briefing on the incident, including its cross-border connections and the broader implications for regional peace and economic progress after the elections.
The Indian government has vowed strict punishment for those responsible and has already taken retaliatory measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty.
On April 29, the Directors General of Military Operations of both nations engaged in hotline discussions, during which India lodged a strong protest against unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control and International Border.

“India lodged a strong protest against unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control and International Border”! Are we hearing another “hot” statements yet again! Time has gone for that. They will deny any knowledge/involvement in any planning/participation for any dastardly actions until the death, just like Hamas leaders did! If they do not hand over the culprits, action needed.
