Honolulu To Mark International Yoga Day With Public Wellness Event

HONOLULU, HI – The Gandhi International Institute for Peace, in partnership with the Consulate General of India in San Francisco, will host its 8th annual International Yoga Day celebration on Sunday, June 21, at the Waikiki Bandstand.
The free public event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, is open to all age groups and fitness levels and will center on the theme, “Yoga for Physical, Mental and Spiritual Transformation.”
The program will begin with a Hawaiian blessing, Oli “Pule Aloha,” by Kumu Malia, followed by a spiritual invocation from Veda Das. Hawaii State Senator Sharon Y. Moriwaki will attend as the guest of honor.
The wellness session will be led by Michele Santos, founder of Sun Yoga Hawaii, along with Robin Shepard of the Still & Moving Center and instructor Amber Ricci. Attendees will take part in yoga postures, breathing exercises aimed at supporting cardiovascular health, and guided meditation.
