India Stands Firmly With Israel, Reiterates Modi After Call From Netanyahu
NEW DELHI (IANS) – Following a phone call with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on October 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the “people of India stand firmly” with the Jewish nation amid the ongoing conflict with the Hamas militant group.
Thanking Netanyahu for making the call and “providing an update on the ongoing situation”, Modi said in a social media post: “People of India stand firmly with Israel in this difficult hour. India strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
This the Prime Minister’s second post after the conflict broke out on October 7 when the Palestinian militant group launched the unprecedented attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip.
Hours after the attack, Modi had said: “Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour.”
As the violence raged for a fourth day on October 10, more than 1,600 people have been killed on both the sides, while tens of thousands of people have been displaced and injured.
Israeli authorities believe that up to 150 people, including senior army officers, are being held as hostages by Hamas in the besieged coastal enclave.

The civilized world has no choice but to stand with Israel. I endorse the decision made by India.

The Islamic world has used brutal methods to push its agenda. A reaction from the on-Islamic world is bound to happen. The era of jihad is over, it is incompatible with contemporary methods of solving problems. “Sar tan se juda,” rape, and murder to defend Allah, who does not need human protection, are against humanity and must end, preferably by enlightened thinking.

A very appropriate response from PM Modi! And an equally appropriate response from President Biden, replete with empathy, and compassion for the victims, a righteous indignation towards the terrorists who attacked Israel, and a promise to help Israel respond vigorously and overwhelmingly to the terrorist attack
On the contrary, here is some embarrassing Republican response to the terrorist attack:
“I think this is a great opportunity for our candidates,” Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel told Fox News, to show that GOP candidates support Israel while “Joe Biden has been weak.”
“The attack “could have been deterred by strong American leadership,” said former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
“It happened because Biden has “gone easy on Iran,” claimed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“This is what happens when @POTUS projects weakness on the world stage,” Mike Pence wrote.
Sen. Tim Scott said that “America’s weakness is blood in the water for bad actors.”
Asa Hutchinson said that the attacks are “symbolic of the times we find ourselves in with weak leadership in the White House.”
My observation: None of the Republicans condemned the terrorists who attacked Israel, which means that they have no compassion or empathy for the victims of the attack. Instead, they all tried to make political hay out of a tragic situation of an epic proportion.
My question to Republicans is: What happened to Senator Arthur Vandenberg’s aphorism “Politics stops at the water’s edge.” ?
