India Wants To Be With America But Sees Us Weak: Nikki Haley On Fox

WASHINGTON, DC (IANS) – Asserting that India has always played it smart, Indian American Republican Presidential hopeful Nikki Haley said that the country partners with Russia as it doesn’t trust the US to win and lead.

In an interview with Charles Payne of Fox Business News, the 51-year-old former UN ambassador said that she has “dealt” with India and spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“India wants to be a partner with us. They don’t want to be a partner with Russia. The problem is India doesn’t trust us to win. They don’t trust us to lead. They see right now that we’re weak,” Haley said, responding to a volley of questions on the US “letting” India buy cheap oil from Russia.

Despite efforts by Ukraine and its allies to persuade countries around the world to distance themselves from Russia, India’s oil purchases from the Central Asian nation rose sharply.

While Western nations cut Russian oil imports at the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, a White House official said that every sovereign country, including India, has the right to buy oil or lubricants from any country.

“India has always played it smart. They play it smart, and they stay close with Russia because that’s where they get a lot of their military equipment,” Haley said, adding that the US needs to “get the weakness out”.

The two-time former South Carolina governor said things will get better when the US “acknowledges” that it has a problem.

“We need to start building up our alliances. You must first acknowledge you have a problem,” she said.

“When we start to lead again, when we start to get the weakness out and stop putting our head in the sand, that’s when our friends, India, Australia, New Zealand, all of them will — and Israel, Japan, South Korea — all of them want to do that.”

Citing examples of India and Japan, Haley said the countries gave themselves a billion-dollar stimulus to become less dependent on China.

  • 67% of Republican voters want her to quit. The MAGA will not elect her in 2028 let alone 2024. The Wall Street monet bags lost their shirt betting on her.
She’s betting on something happening to Donald Trump that will make her the choice for the Republicans. If that is the case only Ron DeSantis is there choice not Nikki Haley or not even Rama Swami. She is suffering from delusions of grandeur that is common among losers.

  • Dumb Haley!
India stays with Russia because Russia is a proven friend that came when India needed help.
    USA was an aggressor.

    Portuguese were aggressors
    Canada is an aggressor
    France was an aggressor

All the above behaved racist for centuries even as early as the last decade, Russia never attacked India but came as a savior too many times.

  • Trump will win all the states that is absolutely no doubt the next president of the United States would be Trump for the second time and his vice presidential candidate will most probably be Elise stepanek or RFK Jr.
Vivek ramaswamy will be in his cabinet or as a policy advisor and he will out last every Republican politician since he’s only 38 years old he will definitely be a presidential candidate in 2028 with Elise stepanek as his vice president candidate

  • I too think that Haley will most likely drop out of the presidential race at some point, considering that she hasn’t won any state yet and Trump has a consistent and commanding lead over her in the polls, nationally, as well as in individual states. It also seems that the 14th amendment will not stop him from being on the ballot in any state, based on the kinds of questions and comments of the US Supreme Court justices in yesterday’s hearing. However, should Trump get convicted in any of the four criminal cases prior to the November 2024 general election, he would be toast, according to the February 1, 2024 article, “ The Memo: Poll points to deep trouble for Trump if he gets convicted” of thehill.com, written by Niall Stange. The following are a few relevant excerpts making that point.

“Former President Trump has escaped numerous controversies that would doom other candidates — but he is not entirely immune to the laws of political gravity.
A new poll suggests the point could be proven in dramatic fashion if any of the four criminal trials he is facing results in a conviction.

The poll, released Wednesday from Bloomberg and Morning Consult, found that 53 percent of voters in key swing states would refuse to vote for Trump if he were convicted of a criminal offense. A slightly higher share, 55 percent, say they would reach that conclusion if he were sentenced to prison.
If those figures are accurate, they could easily decide the election, given how close Trump’s two elections so far, in 2016 and 2020, have been.
A conviction “is absolutely a potential dealbreaker in an election that either [Trump or President Biden] could win or lose for a whole variety of reasons,” said GOP strategist Doug Heye, a former communications director for the Republican National Committee.
The Bloomberg poll was conducted in seven states that will likely determine the outcome of the election: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Interestingly, the poll suggested 20 percent of voters from those states who had voted for Trump in 2020 would be either “somewhat unwilling” or “very unwilling” to vote for him again if he were convicted.…”

  • Democrats made a colissal mistake by putting all their eggs into one basket. They relied too much upon Biden and Harris to win second term. Biden right now is facing 25th Amendment of the Congress The only one who is eligible to win not in 2024 but 2028, is Newsome. Other candidates like Michelle Obama etc have no chance. Harris alone is only drawing 20% without Biden. she may have future chance in California as a governor etc. or but she has absolutely none at the Federal level . Hence Trump will be the next president.
