FRISCO, TEXAS– A video showing a man tearing an Indian flag outside Frisco City Hall during an immigration-related protest has drawn widespread criticism online and renewed attention on debates surrounding immigration and demographic change in North Texas.
The footage, which circulated widely on social media, shows Clayton Walker ripping the Indian tricolor while anti-India slogans are heard from people in the crowd.
The incident prompted strong reactions from many Indian Americans and other social media users, who argued that disagreements over immigration policy should not be directed at an entire community. Several commenters highlighted the contributions of Indian immigrants and Indian Americans to the U.S. economy, while others called for policy discussions to remain focused on immigration issues rather than individuals or ethnic groups.
The episode has also renewed focus on Frisco and neighboring North Texas communities, where the Indian American population has grown significantly in recent years. Immigration and demographic changes have become recurring topics at public meetings, with some residents expressing concerns about the pace of growth and its impact on local resources.
In recent months, some Frisco city council meetings have drawn attention after speakers warned of what they described as an “Indian takeover.” Local leaders and community members have pushed back against such remarks, calling them divisive and misleading.
Indian Americans and their supporters have argued that such rhetoric unfairly portrays the community and contributes to rising tensions.
Following the circulation of the video, Walker said on social media that he had received threatening messages. Walker defended his actions as an exercise of free speech.
“All I did was exhibit my right to freedom of speech as an American. Now I’m getting death threats from Indians,” Walker wrote.
He also shared a screenshot of an alleged threatening message and indicated that he planned to further explain his actions in the coming days.

Death threats are not necessary, but they show one’s character. Many have burned or desecrated US flags here in the past, which has been mostly tolerated. “Indian takeover” is nonsense. Look at California! Spanish-speaking people have taken over the entire State! This is what happens when too many immigrants get into the Country in a very short period of time and fail to assimilate.

Let him try and do that with an American flag and his bosses the Orange top will get him arrested and prosecuted in the blink of an eye. so free speech goes to foreign flags but does not apply to the US flag – right!!!!

The issue is that the new H1Bs are not geniuses. In fact, many of them couldn’t get into a Zilla Parishad job. They come here and make a mess. Rallies etc.
BTW, this is a free country. You can tear or burn this country flag too. Why is it a bigger issue if Indian flag is torn?

I don’t think this country is used to millions of high earners from a different culture immigrating to this country in a short period! It may take years for the ordinary Americans to get used to it.

Death threats are not necessary, but still this is really messed up. Ripping another countries flag can lead to many bad things happening all around the world.
