India-West News Desk
BRAMPTON – Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old Indian man from Brampton, Arshdeep Singh, in connection with the sexual assault of three women earlier this month. Singh faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, and robbery.
The incidents occurred on November 8 and November 16 in Brampton and Vaughan. Police allege Singh posed as a rideshare driver, targeting women at bus stops and luring them into his black sedan.
On November 8, two women were assaulted within an hour of each other. The first was picked up near Countryside Drive and Bramalea Road and taken to a remote area near Highway 27 and Nashville Road in Vaughan. The second was approached near Goreridge Crescent and Via Romano Way in Brampton and assaulted near Highway 50 and Gore Road. A third victim was attacked on November 16 near Airport Road and Humberwest Parkway.
Police linked the assaults through similarities in the suspect’s behavior and vehicle. Victims reported that Singh spoke Punjabi during the attacks, aiding investigators in identifying him.
Singh was arrested and appeared in court for a bail hearing. Authorities have not confirmed if he has legal representation. Police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information or who may have been approached by Singh to come forward.
