Nikki Haley Gets First Primary Victory
WASHINGTON, DC (ANI) – Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley defeated Donald Trump in Washington DC in the Republican primary. Haley garnered 1,274 votes to former President Trump’s 676 with all precincts reporting.
This is her first victory over the former president in the 2024 campaign to become the Republican presidential candidate.
According to Republican party officials, Haley carried nearly 63 percent of the vote, Politico reported.
Nikki Haley’s win in the Washington, DC Republican primary came after Trump defeated her in caucuses in Missouri and Idaho and at a Republican convention in Michigan.
The GOP electorate in DC, where Republicans constitute just 5 percent of registered voters, is hardly representative of the conservative base found in the majority of the other parts of the US.
Trump’s prospects to win the DC GOP primary were not high as he was at third spot behind Marco Rubio and John Kasich during the contest in 2016.
This year, Trump’s campaign warned DC lobbyists that they will be blacklisted from any future Trump White House access if they did not cast a vote for him. Haley criticized Trump for the move. She said, “You can’t threaten people. You can’t push them out, because that is not a winning combination.”

Now Namrata Randhawa can finally answer the question that Fox news Sean Hannity asker her “Don’t have have to win something to be a Republican Presidential nominee?”.

It is a foregone conclusion that the current Republican Party elite has embedded itself with Donald Trump who has a record for allegedly committing crimes and purging himself at several business transactions. Justice on these issues and other allegations has yet to be delivered. In the meantime, Nikki Haley should move on and contest each primary coming her way until the National Republican Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After that, she has a choice of running as an independent candidate representing the saner side of the Republican Party. Historically, third-party candidates have limited success in the American political arena, this time she might surprise history.

Unfortunately Haley does NOT have that option to run as an Independent. Candidates have to decide upon their announcement of running.

Trump’s warning to DC lobbyists is anti-Democratic and reinforces the fear that Trump will act like an autocrat should he get re-elected in 2024. The Republican Party has given a free rein to Trump, who has totally re-engineered the Republican Party so much so that all the Republican politicians, except a few, are scared to disagree with him. Trump is in love with dictators of the world like Putin, envies them, and longs to be like them, given a chance. And that’s exactly the reason he should not get a chance to become president again. When he got elected in 2016, he had no experience and was fearful of making mistakes, so he hired competent people to guide him. Of course, he did not always listen to them and did make mistakes like mishandling of the Covid pandemic, which caused so many people to get sick and die and plunged the country into recession, which, unfortunately, so many Republicans have forgotten. And who can forget the January 6 insurrection? But if he gets re-elected in 2024, he would be in the retribution mode, by his own admission and hire only loyalists who would act like his lapdog. We can kiss goodbye to democracy as we know it because he would call all the shots, pardon himself for all the legal charges against him, and act like a king because nobody would dare to stop him. Even many prominent Republicans like Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney are scared of a Trump presidency. Europeans are concerned about a future Trump presidency because of his isolationist, nativist, and nationalist policies. Trump has already made statements that speak to his disrespect for international organizations like NATO.
