Rahul Gandhi Meets Congressional Reps On Capitol Hill
WASHINGTON DC (ANI) – Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who has interacted with Indian diaspora besides students and faculty at universities during his visit to the United States, also met US lawmakers.
The meeting, which took place at Rayburn House Office Building, here, was hosted by California Congressman Bradley Sherman and those present included Reps. Jonathan Jackson, Ro Khanna, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Barbara Lee, Shri Thanedar, Jesus G. “Chuy” Garcia, Hank Johnson and Jan Schakowsky.
The presence of Rep.Ilhan Omar who has often criticized India on its treatment of Muslims and made pro-Pakistan statements has angered officials in Delhi and also provided fodder to political opponents who have seized on the moment.
Sources familiar with the meetings said that Rahul Gandhi also met US diplomat Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of South and Central Asia. He is also said to have met lawmaker Pramila Jayapal and interacted with members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
