Raja Turned Away From ICE Facility, Condemns Its ‘Indefensible’ Brutlity
India-West Staff Reporter
SCHAUMBURG, IL -Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) has forcefully condemned an incident in Hoffman Estates, that has gone viral and which he confirmed occurred in his district. It shows an ICE agent violently detaining individuals, including a child being “slammed to the ground.”
Krishnamoorthi highlighted a “disturbing pattern” of obstruction and denial from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE. He specifically cited a senior DHS official who “aggressively spread misinformation online,” allegedly claiming the incident was an unrelated, older arrest in Chicago.
“What that footage appears to show — a child being slammed to the ground by an ICE agent — is indefensible,” Krishnamoorthi stated. He added that the events “embody everything that’s wrong with the Trump Administration’s militarized ICE raids: cruelty without accountability, secrecy without oversight, and power without restraint.”
The Congressman criticized the Trump Administration’s “campaign of secrecy, brutality, and misinformation” surrounding its mass immigration raids and renewed his call for immediate transparency and oversight.
Krishnamoorthi was also denied entry to the ICE facility in Broadview, where he planned to perform congressional oversight on reported detentions, including minors. This denial follows a similar incident in June when both he and Congressman Jonathan Jackson were turned away from another ICE site in Chicago’s South Loop while attempting to inspect conditions and gather information on detainees.
