
Raviteja Koyyada Fatally Shot While Delivering Food In New Haven

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 26-year-old Hamden man was fatally shot on January 19 while making a food delivery in the Newhallville neighborhood.
New Haven police responded to a 911 call around 3:58 p.m. reporting a person down in the roadway at the intersection of Shepard and Goodrich streets. Upon arrival, officers found Raviteja Koyyada, an unresponsive delivery driver with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police determined that Koyyada, a delivery driver for a Chinese food restaurant, was shot while making a delivery at a residence on Shepard Street. After the shooting, Koyyada’s car was stolen but was found parked and unoccupied nearby shortly afterward.
The New Haven Police Department is asking witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
The Consulate General of India in New York confirmed Koyyada’s death on January 20, stating that they are in touch with his family regarding the repatriation of his remains.
Koyyada, originally from Telangana, had been in the U.S. since 2022 to pursue a master’s degree.
