BROOKLYN, NY– Red Baraat, the acclaimed band led by dhol drummer Sunny Jain, is marking its 15th anniversary with the release of their new album, “Bhangra Rangeela,” on April 25. The album features nine new tracks and three classics, showcasing their signature fusion of bhangra, jazz, and rock.
“Bhangra Rangeela” includes collaborations with Stewart Copeland of The Police, who contributes drums and a remix, guitarist Delicate Steve, and producer Karsh Kale. A remix of their new single “Thums Up” by Kahani of Indo Warehouse is out on March 28th.
Jain notes the album’s title track was inspired by a mashup at a Muslim-Jewish wedding, featuring Pakistani rapper SMK and Sufi singers Bakshi Brothers. Remixes by Nick Catchdubs and DJ Rekha are also part of the release.
Known for their energetic live performances, Red Baraat is touring across 15 US cities in April and May 2025, including appearances at festivals like Festival International de Louisiane and Spoleto Festival USA.
Over their 15-year career, they have played over 700 stages globally, including The White House and the London Olympics.
Jain’s work extends beyond Red Baraat, encompassing theater productions, a cookbook, and a solo album exploring themes of identity and community.
