‘RRR’ Spotlighted As Academy Unveils New Oscar Category For Stunt Design

HYDERABAD (ANI)– Filmmaker SS Rajamouli is thrilled after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences spotlighted his global hit RRR in its announcement of a new Oscar category for Stunt Design, set to debut at the 100th Academy Awards.

The Academy revealed the historic addition on April 10, confirming that films released in 2027 will be eligible, with the first awards in this category presented in 2028. In its promotional poster, the Academy included RRR alongside Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible, honoring groundbreaking stunt work in cinema.

Rajamouli posted, “At last!! After a 100-year wait!!! Ecstatic for the new Oscars stunt design category… Thrilled to see #RRRMovie’s action visual shining in the announcement!” he posted, thanking director David Leitch, Chris O’Hara, the stunt community, and the Academy’s leadership.

Up next, Rajamouli is set to direct SSB29, starring Mahesh Babu and penned by Vijayendra Prasad.
