LOS ANGELES, CA – The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Antarrashtriya Parivaar is set to host the 2024 Shiv Jayanti in 250 global cities. This event, dedicated to Indian national heroes, will take place in Southern California in Long Beach on February 25.

Shivaji Maharaj (1630–1680) is revered for his military prowess, leadership, and administrative skills. Known for establishing a strong naval presence and a well-organized administration, he significantly contributed to the success and expansion of the Maratha Empire. His strategies in guerrilla warfare are particularly praised, and his legacy continues to impact Maharashtra and Indian history. Shivaji Maharaj’s emphasis on liberty, equality, justice for all (regardless of gender, race, or religion), and the importance of “Individual Merit” remains influential over 350 years later.

The celebrations which will focus on Shivaji Maharaj will showcase various cultural and traditional activities such as Palakhi, Dhol Tasha, Lezim, and other dances. Additionally, an essay competition will provide participants with an opportunity for personal and intellectual growth. Keynote speaker Dr. Deepinder Singh will share insights on Unity and Leadership.

The event will also feature an English drama highlighting Maharaja Ranjit Singh.  Born on November 13, 1780, he was the founder and first ruler of the Sikh Empire in the early 19th century. Renowned for unifying various Sikh factions, Ranjit Singh expanded the Sikh Empire’s territory and established it as a formidable power in the region. His reign is characterized by military prowess, administrative reforms, and promotion of religious tolerance. Remembered as a significant figure in Sikh history, Ranjit Singh’s legacy continues to influence the political landscape, showcasing his skills as a leader who left a lasting impact on his time, organizers said.
