WASHINGTON, DC, (ANI)– An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor met bipartisan members of the US Congress on June 4, securing robust support for India’s position on the recent Pahalgam terror attack and broader counterterrorism efforts.
Upon arrival in Washington after a taxing journey from Brasilia, Tharoor was welcomed by Indian-American police officers Harmanpreet Singh and Hundai. He subsequently participated in a CBS News interview at the Indian Embassy and was briefed by Ambassador Vinay Kwatra and his team.
During meetings with the congressional India Caucus co-chairs Ro Khanna and Rich McCormick, along with vice co-chairs Andy Barr and Marc Veasey, the delegation—comprising MPs across India’s political spectrum including Sarfaraz Ahmad, Ganti Harish Madhur, Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhubaneswar Kalita, Tejasvi Surya, and former Ambassador Taraijit Singh Sandhu—briefed lawmakers on cross-border terrorism and India’s resolute stance.

Tharoor said Congressman McCormick expressed optimism about the future of India-US relations, including economic and strategic cooperation. “This issue was part of a larger picture, and we are encouraged by the vision that the India Caucus chairs have for our partnership,” Tharoor noted. He added that other Congress members present conveyed strong support and understanding for India’s position on the Pahalgam attack and its aftermath.
The Indian Embassy confirmed that the US representatives offered “unequivocal and bipartisan condemnation” of the terror attack and endorsed India’s right to a firm response in line with zero tolerance for terrorism.
The delegation is scheduled for engagements with US think tanks, media, and the Indian diaspora.
This diplomatic outreach follows India’s Operation Sindoor, launched May 7.
