WASHINGTON, DC – President Donald Trump has moved swiftly to reshape the intelligence apparatus, using security clearances as a political weapon against his adversaries. On March 10, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced the revocation of clearances for key Biden administration figures, acting on executive orders issued by Trump upon his return to the White House.

According to Politico, the officials stripped of their clearances include former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, and former U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, who had overseen prosecutions related to the January 6 Capitol riot. Gabbard, in a post on X, confirmed the move, stating that it was in line with Trump’s directives.

Trump also targeted legal figures involved in cases against him, including Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James, both of whom led investigations into his business dealings. According to Politico, former FBI general counsel Andrew Weissmann and ex-Ambassador Norm Eisen—outspoken critics of Trump—also had their clearances revoked.

In a further break from tradition, Gabbard confirmed that former President Joe Biden would no longer receive the President’s Daily Brief, a summary of critical intelligence reports. Politico noted that while past presidents have typically been granted access to the briefings, Biden himself had revoked Trump’s access in 2021.

Gabbard also carried out Trump’s directive to revoke clearances for 51 former intelligence officials who signed a 2020 letter dismissing reports about Hunter Biden’s laptop as “Russian disinformation.”
