Varshini Hari Awarded Congressional Gold Medal

REMOND, WA – Varshini Hari, a 10th grader at Nikola Tesla Stem High School here, was awarded the US Congressional Gold Medal in January 2024, which is the highest honor for youth by the U.S. Congress.
Varshini was recognized for completing at least 400 hours of voluntary public service over 2 years, 200 hours of personal development which included work related to robotics and flute, and 200 hours of physical fitness.
As a co-founder of a nonprofit initiative, she has taught 30+ STEM workshops over the last few years, especially for the underserved, and baked over 3000+ treats in fundraisers. She has volunteered over 1000+ hours to touch the lives of youth.
Varshini loves to swim, bake, and travel the world and hopes to major in a science and technology-related field in college.
