GUWAHATI- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of the Bharatiya Janata Party on May 4 termed the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s performance in the state as a “historic mandate”, saying the people have once again blessed the alliance to form the government for a third consecutive term under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to reporters after the BJP’s victory, Himanta Biswa Sarma said the verdict reflects the electorate’s support for sustained efforts to safeguard Assam’s identity while accelerating development.

He said the government’s continued push in governance, infrastructure, and socio-economic upliftment has earned public trust across regions and communities.

“The people of Assam have given their blessings once again. This mandate is for development, good governance, and for securing the identity of the state,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said, thanking voters on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies for their support.

He said the development narrative has resonated strongly with the youth, who aspire to better opportunities and a stable future.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said the scale of the victory is in line with the party’s expectations, recalling that BJP leaders had earlier indicated a tally crossing the 100-mark. (IANS)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 4 thanked the people of Puducherry after the National Democratic Alliance secured another term in the Union Territory, attributing the victory to the “track record of good governance” delivered by the government led by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy of the All India NR Congress.

He added that the victory would further energize efforts to strengthen governance and accelerate development initiatives in the region. “These blessings will add momentum to our collective efforts to boost good governance,” he said, signaling continuity in policy direction and administrative focus.

Rangasamy, a senior leader in the Union Territory’s politics, has maintained a strong support base, which appears to have translated into electoral success for the NDA. (IANS)
