MERCED, CA – Mystery surrounds the kidnapping of four members of an Indian American family, including an eight-month-old baby, here, while a round-the-clock search is on for them, Merced County Sheriff Vernon Warnke said.

Eight-month-old Aroohi Dheri, along with her parents, Jasleen Kaur, 27, and Jasdeep Singh, 36, and uncle, Amandeep Singh, 39, was kidnapped by a “lowlife” who is “armed and dangerous”, the Sheriff said in video message on October 3.

“So far, we have no idea why the kidnapping, we have no motivation behind it,” he added. At the time of publishing, no ransom has been demanded either.

“We’ve got evidence to indicate that the individuals involved in this, destroyed evidence in an attempt to cover up their tracks,” he said.

The Sheriff’s office has circulated pictures of the alleged suspect and described him “as a light-complexioned male with a shaved head”.

Police said anyone with information should contact Merced County Sheriff’s Office immediately at (209)385-7445.
