DALLAS, TX – Daniel Keene, the 30-year-old owner of Boundaries Coffee, in the Dallas suburbs, is at the center of controversy after his remarks on immigration and H-1B visas sparked outrage online — and, he says, cost him thousands of dollars.
It all began when he posted on September 6 and commented, “We have to cancel the H-1Bs. I want my kids to grow up in America. Not India.” The accompanying video included footage of about 100 people celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi. It was deleted days later. But the backlash came swiftly.
According to Newsweek, Keene said he began receiving threatening emails — including one demanding $20,000 — and that his coffee shops in Little Elm and Prosper were bombarded with negative reviews online. He estimated losing $8,000 in sales within two weeks and said a prospective employee withdrew her job application.
“I wanted to bring awareness to the policy effect on the ground,” Keene told Newsweek, defending his stance. “The objection is about the policy, the mass amount of immigration into specific areas, the sheer volume into small, dense areas. It’s not about skin color or anything. It’s about what kind of country you want to leave your kids.”
Keene also claimed that elders at The Trails Church in Celina asked him to leave the congregation following the post. However, church officials told Newsweek, “At no time during our meetings were their political opinions ever a point of focus,” the church said in a statement. “Our discussions centered on the gospel mandate to love our neighbors.”
His gym, CrossFit Prosper terminated his membership, though owner Ken Williams told Newsweek the decision was not political. “It was based on our core values of fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome and respected,” he said, noting Keene’s comments that he had “nothing in common” with the Indian community.
A report by the Center for the Study of Organized Hate cited by Newsweek found that hostility toward Indian Americans on X surged in August, peaking during the U.S.-India tariff dispute, with many posts tied to anger over the H-1B visa program.

Someone should enlighten Daniel Keene that by insulting Ganesh does not help any business!
Also, he seems unintelligent in saying that US should not allow educated people. This group of people pay high tax, help keep US advance in technology, commit minimum crimes as a whole.
Does he want uneducated rapists, drug pushers and gang members in US?

Mr. Keene is right, all H1-B should be cancelled, H1-B is exploitation by big Corp of hiring workers at CHEAP Wages. We American are not getting jobs, jobs are taken by these cheap Indian workers. Hope there are more people objecting to issuance to H-1B Visas and support the view of Keene about H-1B Visas.

Hello Daniel, You ought to NOT forget that this land really belonged to Native Americans. You are operating a business on a stolen land. Native Americans are God’s children too.

Give up the “stolen land” cry. The natives fought each other like all others over the world. The strong survived and took over the land, of course. No apologies. That’s the Left BS repeated by those that don’t know history of civilization. The H1B should be abolished. America first. The bug corps take advantage of this while the citizens get short changed. Enough is enough.
