MUMBAI (IANS) – Actress Deepika Padukone, co-founder of the Padukone School of Badminton announced that the academy has reached 75 grassroots coaching centers across 18 Indian cities in its first year of operations.

The initiative, founded and funded by Deepika and mentored by her father, former World No. 1 and All England Champion Prakash Padukone, seeks to make quality badminton coaching more accessible. The program partners with schools and local institutions to establish grassroots academies feeding into three high-performance centers in Bengaluru.

The expansion includes centers in Bengaluru, NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Jaipur, Pune, Nashik, Mysuru, Panipat, Dehradun, Udaipur, Coimbatore, Sangli, and Surat. PSB now aims to scale up to 100 centers by the end of 2025 and reach 250 in the next three years.

Sharing a photo with her father on Instagram, Deepika said, “As someone who grew up playing badminton, I’ve experienced firsthand how much this sport can shape one’s life – physically, mentally, and emotionally.”

She added, “Through PSB, we hope to bring the joy and discipline of badminton to people from all walks of life, and build a generation that is healthier, more focused, and inspired by sport.”

PSB’s structured methodology, developed under Prakash Padukone’s guidance, is designed to support all age groups and skill levels. With over 100 coaches certified under its training program, the academy also offers a pathway for aspiring coaches to build sustainable careers in the sport.
