FIA, AHF Celebrate India’s 77th Year In Long Beach, CA

LONG BEACH, CA – The Federation of Indian American Associations (FIA) and the American Hindu Federation (AHF) jointly celebrated India’s 77th Independence Day. The event was held in the auditorium of Jordan High School, here.
A flag hoisting ceremony was done in the presence of well-known community members including Avadesh Agarwal, Dr. Krishna Reddy, Ishwar Deedwania, Ajoy Dubey, Charu Shivkumar, Rachna Srivastava, Manoj Agarwal, and Arun Dutt.
The program, which started with Ganesh Stuti, showcased the diversity of India with dances from Maharashtra, Bengal, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Odisha, and other states. The event had all genres including classical, Bollywood, and patriotic dances.
Vini Gora rendered patriotic songs that moved the audience and then provided entertainment with Punjabi and Bollywood hit songs.
The program was conducted by Rachna Srivastava and Charu Sivakumar in a very efficient manner.
Outside the hall, there were about 24 booths packed with all manner of services, from henna to insurance, and food being offered.
Ishwar Deedwania, FIA President, thanked everyone for their presence and congratulated the volunteers who had worked to put the event together to make it a community one.
