Former President Kovind Meets Community In SoCal

BUENA PARK, CA – The Jain Center of Southern California on October 2 hosted the former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, and his wife Savita.
Kovind’s visit was extended in response to an invitation from Yogesh Shah, President of JCSC, and Dr. Jasvant Modi, President of the Vardhaman Charitable Foundation, to commemorate the International Day of Non-violence, celebrated on the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of India, on October 2, a press note said.
Dr. Sulekh Jain, extended a warm welcome to the former president, highlighting his accomplishments as a Supreme Court Lawyer and Governor of Bihar before his presidency in India in 2017.
The Consul General of India, San Francisco, Dr. K Srikar Reddy was present and addressed the 200-odd people in the audience.
Kovind, in his speech, spoke about India’s remarkable progress in terms of its economy and technology, emphasizing the nation’s swift development. He shared inspiring anecdotes about Indian students in Ukraine making it back safely home during the Russian attack. It exemplified the diplomacy and respect that India and its leader, Mr. Modi, command on the global stage.
The former President also recounted the competition between India and Russia in space exploration. When Russia attempted to launch its rocket 12 days ahead of India’s scheduled Chandrayan-3 mission, it ended in failure. In contrast, India’s Chandrayan-3 mission achieved a successful landing on the unexplored South Side of the Moon, marking a historic milestone. The audience responded with prolonged and thunderous applause.
The event concluded with a sumptuous dinner served to all attendees.
