LA JOLLA, CA – High-achieving high school students now have a unique opportunity to gain college-level academic experience and develop global leadership skills through the UC San Diego Future Leaders Summer Program. Hosted by the Global Leadership Institute at the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy—and presented in partnership with the 21st Century India Center and the 21st Century China Center—the program highlights the interconnected roles of India, China, the United States, and other Indo-Pacific nations in shaping global affairs.
Running from July 13 to August 2 on the UC San Diego campus, the intensive, residential program will immerse students in pressing global challenges including the climate crisis, energy innovation, artificial intelligence, and internet governance. Through a game-based learning model, participants will explore complex international issues while learning from renowned UC San Diego faculty and receiving leadership development training.
Students will live on campus and gain a taste of college life, while also participating in educational excursions to San Diego’s cultural and historical landmarks. The curriculum includes focused India-related content, reflecting the revitalized involvement of the 21st Century India Center.
The program is open to students who will be in 10th through 12th grade by Fall 2025. The cost is $7,075, covering tuition, housing, meals, and all activities. To support broader access, a limited number of full and partial scholarships are available.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with a suggested deadline of May 2. Upon completion, students will receive 1 pre-collegiate credit and an official transcript from UC San Diego.
