Lions Club Oakland Hold Successful Free Eye Clinic

OAKLAND, CA – Lions Clubs International and Allen Temple Baptist Church of Oakland joined forces to organize a free eye clinic that has made a significant impact on the lives of 400 low-income individuals.
The event, conducted under the Lions in Sight program, offered comprehensive eye examinations and provided prescription glasses to those in need.
The volunteers from the local Lions Clubs and members of Allen Temple Baptist Church congregated at the church premises, transforming it into a bustling eye clinic.
Throughout the day, a team of dedicated optometrists and ophthalmologists conducted thorough eye examinations, assessing visual acuity, screening for potential eye diseases, and identifying vision-related problems. The professionals generously donated their time and expertise, ensuring that everyone received personalized care and attention.
Following the eye examinations, attendees were guided to the on-site optical dispensary, where they were fitted with prescription glasses based on their unique visual needs. The array of frames and lenses available catered to a wide range of styles and prescriptions, enabling individuals to select glasses that not only improved their vision but also suited their personal preferences.
“People of all ages, from children to seniors, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to receive vital eye care services that they otherwise might not have been able to afford”, Lions Clubs International Past District Governor James Varghese stated. He also commented on the hard work of the Lions in Sight clinic coordinator Graham Forder and all Lions Clubs volunteers from more than 10 Lions Clubs as well as the participating medical professionals from the Bay Area. “Working alongside Allen Temple Baptist Church has allowed us to touch the lives of 400 individuals today, but our commitment to eradicating preventable blindness remains unwavering.” he added.
