Modi Meets Tech CEOs
NEW YORK, NY (ANI) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a significant roundtable meeting with leading technology industry CEOs in New York on September 22 at the Lotte Hotel where he was staying.
The event drew praise from Modi for MIT’s School of Engineering and its Dean, Anantha Chandrakasan, for assembling the distinguished group of technology leaders. The conversation centered on the rapidly evolving global technology landscape and how advancements in AI, quantum computing, and semiconductors could foster human development and economic growth.
Modi emphasized India’s commitment to “inclusive innovations” and highlighted the “Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology” (ICET) as part of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. He stated that India is moving forward with the mantra of “reform, perform, and transform” while stressing the need for a balance between technology and democracy.
Calling for collaboration between tech companies in India and America to tackle global challenges, Modi expressed confidence in the potential for these partnerships. “I always see all of you as fellow travelers and co-partners in the development journey of a self-reliant and strong India,” he remarked.
The roundtable featured prominent figures from leading companies, including Julie Sweet of Accenture, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, Lisa Su of AMD, Chris Viehbacher of Biogen Inc., Chris Boerner of Bristol Myers Squibb, David A. Ricks of Eli Lilly and Company, Sundar Pichai of Google, Enrique Lores of HP Inc., Arvind Krishna of IBM, Tim Archer of LAM Research, Noubar Afeyan of Moderna, Hans Vestberg of Verizon, Thomas Caulfield of GlobalFoundries, and Jensen Huang of NVIDIA.
Recalling last year’s ‘Tech Handshake’ program in Washington, Modi noted, “I had the opportunity to meet many of you in India as well.”
