RIDGEWOOD, NJ – A fundraising event to be hosted by the Param Shakti Peeth of America at the Old Paramus Reformed Church here on September 10, featuring Hindu leader Sadhvi Rithambara was canceled following demands that the event not be held.

Rev. Robert Miller told newjersey.com that the church had withdrawn the reservation for the event after getting 1,000 emails and being bombarded with at least 100 calls.

The Indian American Muslim Council and Hindus for Human Rights had called for the event to be canceled and organized a letter-writing campaign.

Narsinh Desai, a sponsor of the event, while speaking to newjersey.com dismissed allegations that Didi Ma, as she is known to followers was extremist and that it was all “misinformation.” She talks about protecting the Hindu religion but not violence, he told the site.

Organizers moved the venue to Sheraton Hotel in Mahwah the same day.

  • Any one in India or outside, who speaks for upholding the Indian ethos and questions the unsecular, anti-India and anti-Hindu activists, is branded an extremist. In fact, those who acted forcing the Church authorities to backtrack from the sanction earlier given are the real parochial-minded extremists, no doubt.

  • WOW! all you have to do is look around the globe and you will find all places full of killing and violence have one thing common – one religion. I don’t have to name that religion. They are killing anyone who does not agree with them. Hindus are suffering because of their tolerance.
