Poorna Jagannathan Lands Role In HBO’s ‘Lanterns’
LOS ANGELES, CA (ANI) – Actor Poorna Jagannathan, best known for her role in Netflix’s Never Have I Ever and Bollywood films like Delhi Belly and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, has joined the cast of HBO’s Lanterns.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Poorna will play a recurring character named Zoe, described as “an effortlessly confident and poised woman in any setting, and as composed and cunning as the influential men around her.”
Lanterns is based on DC’s long-running Green Lantern comics and stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart—two of the franchise’s most iconic characters. HBO picked up the series in June after years of development delays.
Chris Mundy (Ozark) serves as showrunner for the eight-episode season, co-writing with Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen) and Eisner Award-winning comics writer Tom King. The series is executive-produced by Mundy, Lindelof, and James Hawes (Slow Horses), who will direct the first two episodes.
