Qatar Drops Death Sentence On Indians Spying For Israel
NEW DELHI, (IANS) – The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on December 28 said that India has noted the Dahra Global case verdict in which the sentences of eight former Indian Navy personnel on death row have been reduced.
A detailed verdict is awaited. “
“Our Ambassador to Qatar and other officials were present in the Court of Appeal today, along with the family members,” said the Ministry. “Due to the confidential and sensitive nature of proceedings of this case, it would not be appropriate to make any further comment at this juncture,” the MEA added.
The eight were charged with spying while working at Al Dahra, a consulting company in the oil-rich Gulf state that advises the Qatari government on submarine acquisitions, according to Indian media reports.
