India-West News Desk
LOS ANGELES, CA – Delhi Police on January 5 confirmed that Shankar Mishra is the man who urinated on his business class female co-passenger and flashed his private parts to the septuagenarian.
Mishra is the Vice President of the India chapter of Wells Fargo, headquartered in California. Multiple teams of Delhi police have been sent to Mumbai where he lives to nab him, but he is suspected of having fled the state.
With Air India keeping the incident of November 26, 2022, under wraps for many weeks, aviation experts said that any action now by the airline is too little, too late.
Aviation regulator DGCA also took a strong note of this and has said that the conduct of Air India was unprofessional and has led to a systemic failure in the case.
The DGCA has noted that the incident of passenger misbehavior with a female co-passenger was reported to it too late on January 4 while it took place on November 26.
Air India in its report to DGCA about the incident said that the female passenger initially requested that action be taken against the offender upon arrival, however, subsequently rescinded her request after the two parties appeared to sort the matter out between them. As per sources, the airline in its report said that the cabin crew reported the incident to the Commander and logged it in the Voyage Report. As there was no further flare-up or confrontation, and respecting the perceived wishes of the female passenger, the crew elected not to summon law enforcement upon landing, the response said.
Days after an incident in which a man allegedly urinated on an elderly woman during an Air India flight between New York-Delhi on November 26 last year, another incident of December 6 has come to light in which a “drunk man urinated on blanket of a co-passenger” while the Air India flight was on its way from Paris to Delhi. The shocking incidents took place in a gap of 11 days. (with IANS input)
The classic Yiddish proverb comes to mind: “A schlemiel is the guy who spills soup. A schlimazel is the guy he spills it on.”
The schlemiel has now been identified now. The news I am reading directly from India refers to an understanding or settlement between the schlemiel and the schlimazel following the incident. Then when the identity of the schlemiel is known, the schlimazel who has not yet been publicly identified had a change of heart in this rather tacky incident.
In any event, this is a sticky wicket for Wells Fargo.January 5, 2023
