WASHINGTON, DC – Shohini Sinha has been appointed as the assistant director of the FBI’s Victim Services Division, marking a significant milestone in her extensive law enforcement career. She has a strong background in counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and international collaboration.

Joining the FBI in 2001 as a special agent, Sinha began her career in the Milwaukee Field Office, focusing on counterterrorism investigations. She also took on critical temporary assignments at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, the FBI Legal Attaché Office in London, and the Baghdad Operations Center, contributing to the FBI’s global efforts in national security.

Her rise through the ranks was swift. In 2009, Sinha was promoted to supervisory special agent and transferred to the Counterterrorism Division in Washington, D.C., where she managed Canada-based extraterritorial investigations and facilitated liaison efforts with Canadian officials. By 2012, she had advanced to assistant legal attaché in Ottawa, working on counterterrorism in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Canadian Security Intelligence Service.

Sinha’s leadership continued to shine when she became a field supervisor at the Detroit Field Office in 2015, where she led squads focused on international terrorism investigations. In 2020, she transitioned to the Cyber Intrusion squad, tackling national security and cybercrime issues. Later that year, she was promoted to assistant special agent in charge in the Portland Field Office, overseeing national security and criminal matters.

In 2021, Sinha was appointed as the executive special assistant to the FBI director. Most recently, she served as the special agent in charge of the Salt Lake City Field Office since July 2023.

Before her tenure with the FBI, Sinha worked as a therapist and administrator at a private not-for-profit clinic. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in mental health counseling from Purdue University.
