BOSTON, MA – A 28-year-old software engineer from Hyderabad died in a skydiving accident in Massachusetts on July 12, just days after earning his parachuting license, according to local authorities.
The deceased, identified as Mani Chandra Teja Gaddam, had been working as a software engineer at Fidelity Investments in Boston since April 2025 after completing his master’s degree at Northeastern University.
The accident occurred at about 4 p.m. at Jumptown Skydiving in Orange, Massachusetts. Authorities said Gaddam was descending safely when a sudden gust of wind reportedly disrupted his parachute during landing. He fell from a height of about 30 feet and sustained critical injuries.
He was rushed to Athol Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to family members, Gaddam had recently earned an A Licence from the United States Parachute Association, allowing certified skydivers to jump without direct instructor supervision after completing the required training and safety standards.
Family members described him as a bright, kind and hardworking young man with a passion for learning and adventure. They said he embraced new challenges and had recently taken up skydiving, a sport he was excited to continue exploring.
Following his death, relatives have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral and related expenses. The family said his sudden passing has left them devastated emotionally and financially, noting that they had made significant sacrifices over the years to support his education and career in the United States.
Jumptown Skydiving said it is cooperating fully with investigators examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
In a statement, the company expressed its condolences to Gaddam’s family, friends and loved ones following the tragedy.
The fundraising campaign said every contribution would help ease the financial burden on the family as they cope with the unexpected loss of their son and brother.
