WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. immigration authorities have revoked student visas for several international students at major universities, including Harvard, Tufts, and Stanford, according to Bloomberg. The surge in visa terminations—often discovered only when federal immigration databases are updated—has alarmed campus officials nationwide.

The cancellations have impacted both current students and recent graduates. Colleges across the country report growing concern, particularly as these actions appear to align with broader Trump administration efforts to increase scrutiny of international students.

In California alone, dozens of students and recent graduates have had their visas revoked at institutions including UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, and Stanford, Los Angeles Times reported on April 7.

Stanford stated on April 4 that it was aware of six students whose visas were revoked, adding that it does not share student or personnel records with immigration authorities unless legally mandated.

Harvard reported on April 6 that three current students and two recent graduates had their visas canceled.

Additional revocations have also been confirmed at Dartmouth College, Minnesota State University, Arizona State University, and the University of Oregon, among others, according to the Associated Press.

Two anonymous students have filed federal lawsuits, claiming their visas were revoked without due process, sometimes for minor infractions like driving violations.
