DETROIT, MI (IANS) – As robotic surgery slowly becomes mainstream, US-based robotic surgery evangelist Vattikuti Foundation on September 1 announced a unique video competition for robotic surgeons from across the world on September 10, that will be judged by an international jury form Oxford and Stanford Universities, and New-Delhi based AIIMS.

The top three winning videos from about 100 entries will be announced from the fields of urology, gynecology, general surgery, hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery, colorectal, head and neck, pediatric and joint replacement surgeries.

The ‘KS National Robotic Surgery Video’ competition is being organized in India since 2015 and this year, it has gone international for the first time.

“The global healthcare system has gained from Vattikuti Foundation’s library of winning videos on robotic surgery from India and we wanted to enrich this library with international experience. For the 2022 competition, the Foundation is gratified to see a four-fold increase over entries in the past”, said Dr Mahendra Bhandari, CEO, Vattikuti Foundation.

The international jury to select the winners include robotic surgeons Dr David Neal, Professor of Surgical Oncology, Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences at Oxford University, UK; Dr Sherry M Wren, Vice Chair and Professor of Surgery, Stanford University, USA and Dr Rajeev Kumar, Professor of Urology and Associate Dean, AIIMS, New Delhi.
