Poorna Jagannathan Thrilled With ‘Lanterns’ Script

LOS ANGELES, CA – Poorna Jagannathan expressed her excitement for Lanterns, the upcoming DC series from Damon Lindelof (creator of Lost and Watchmen), alongside Tom King and showrunner Chris Mundy.

Part of DC Studios’ Chapter One: Gods and Monsters slate, the series stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Jagannathan plays a key supporting role as a no-nonsense sheriff in a town suddenly overtaken by superpowered beings.

In an exclusive interview with Collider, Jagannathan praised the Lanterns script as “the best sci-fi writing I’ve ever read.” She shared, “This is the first script I’ve read where I understand why there’s an NDA. Everything is so insane.”

Though not typically a sci-fi fan, she noted how the script made the genre feel accessible: “It makes sci-fi seem like my world.”

Lanterns follows Green Lanterns Jordan and Stewart as they investigate a dark, Earth-bound mystery with intergalactic consequences. Described as a detective story in the vein of True Detective, the show promises to blend grounded storytelling with the high stakes of space.
