Ahmedabad IPL Team Named “Gujarat Titans”

Hardik Pandya will lead the new IPL team.

AHMEDABAD – “Shubh Aarambh! #GujaratTitans” tweeted the official handle of the IPL Ahmedabad team, announcing the name of the new addition to the league. Hardik Pandya who was drafted in for Rs 15 crore, will lead an IPL side for the first time.

Gujarat Titans is owned by CVC Capitals. They roped in Hardik along with Rashid Khan (Rs 15 crore) and Shubman Gill (Rs 7 crore) ahead of the mega auction, scheduled for Feb. 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.

The team said the name was chosen to pay tribute to the state’s rich cricketing legacy. “The franchise is inspired by the opportunity to represent and build on this deep cricketing heritage, as well as build on its future success on the pitch,” said the franchise in a statement.
