HOUSTON, TX – Musaafer Indian Restaurant, located in Houston’s Galleria, has been awarded a Michelin star, marking a significant milestone for Indian cuisine in the US.
Owners Shammi and Mithu Malik, alongside executive corporate chef Mayank Istwal, expressed their immense gratitude for the honor. “We are deeply grateful to Michelin for this recognition of one coveted star, which reflects the dedication, passion, and tireless efforts of our entire Musaafer family,” said Shammi Malik. “This honor reaffirms our commitment to delivering an unparalleled dining experience inspired by the rich culinary heritage of India.”
Mithu Malik emphasized the importance of the Houston community in Musaafer’s success. “Our journey at Musaafer has been made possible by the tremendous support from our local community here in Houston. The love, enthusiasm, and adventurous spirit of our guests have been the backbone of our success, and we are profoundly thankful for their continuous encouragement,” Malik said.
This achievement is particularly special as it marks the first time the Michelin Guide has rated restaurants in Texas. The recognition places Musaafer among only six Michelin-starred restaurants in Houston.
Chef Mayank Istwal also reflected on the honor of being part of Houston’s vibrant culinary landscape. “We feel incredibly honored to stand among so many talented chefs and restaurateurs in this thriving city, and we are excited to see Houston’s dining culture continue to flourish,” he shared.
According to the Michelin Guide, a one-star rating is given to restaurants that consistently offer high-quality ingredients, balanced flavors, technical mastery, and a unique personality expressed through the chef’s culinary creations.
