India-West News Desk
NEW YORK, NY – Padma Lakshmi, the renowned Indian American author, model, activist, and TV host, has recently addressed some common misconceptions about Indian food terminology. In a video posted on her Instagram, she clarified the correct names for certain types of bread. The video begins with Padma Lakshmi stating, “And another thing. It’s naan, not naan bread. And it’s pita, not pita bread either. Get it straight. Thank you.”
The video quickly gained traction, with many applauding her efforts to educate people on proper food terminology. One tea enthusiast commented, “It’s not chai tea either!”
Padma Lakshmi has previously addressed similar issues, particularly regarding tea. She emphasized the importance of using the correct terms, saying, “They should just call it ‘masala tea’ or ‘masala chai,’ which is what we call it. When we add ginger or spices to tea, it’s ‘masala tea’ or ‘chai.’ Not ‘chai tea.'”
