Shoojit Sircar Has Nothing But Praise For Abhishek Bachchan
MUMBAI (ANI) – Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie I Want to Talk, described it as Abhishek Bachchan’s “best film” and praised the actor’s deeply emotional performance.
Recounting his first meeting with Abhishek in Australia, Sircar shared how it left a lasting impression. “Abhishek and I met in Melbourne. He took me out to dinner one night, and we talked for 3-4 hours. During our conversation, he opened his heart to me, and I could see his mother’s (Jaya Bachchan) innocence in his eyes. When I was shooting the first silent shot with him, I saw the same purity and warmth. That was exactly what I wanted in the character.”
Calling I Want to Talk the best film of Abhishek’s career, Sircar added, “This will be his best film in my opinion. I would rank it at the top. There are moments in the film that remind me of Irrfan (Khan). After watching it, you’ll understand what Abhishek conveys through his eyes in silence. His performance is outstanding.”
The director also expressed his desire to collaborate on a film featuring both Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan. “I would really like to cast Mr. Bachchan (Amitabh Bachchan) and Abhishek together in a film. I’d also like to include Deepika, as she’s my favorite actress.”
I Want to Talk explores themes of resilience and emotional complexity, with Abhishek playing a character grappling with profound internal struggles. Speaking about the film’s message, Sircar said, “It’s about adopting a never-give-up approach in life. Everyone faces problems, but we must learn to face them patiently. When you see Abhishek’s character’s struggles, you’ll feel like our issues are nothing.”
At the film’s music launch, Abhishek discussed the physical transformation he underwent for the role. Referring to the poster where he appears with a noticeable belly, he said, “That was real, not a prosthetic. I gained extra kilos for the role. I’m not in that shape anymore, but the experience was transformative—not just physically but emotionally. This film has been life-changing.”
He added, “We’ve worked hard on this project. It’s a very sincere effort, and I hope it makes a difference to the two or three hours audiences spend watching it.”
Produced by Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri under Rising Sun Films, I Want to Talk is set to release in theaters on November 22.

Agree to disagree. Abhishek has yet to learn acting. He is moving in cinema world riding on the fame of his father who has yet to learn to dress proper.
