
UCLA Calls For Submissions For Sardar Patel Award 2024

LOS ANGELES, CA – The UCLA Center for India and South Asia is accepting submissions for the 2024 Sardar Patel Award, which recognizes the best doctoral dissertation on modern India completed at a U.S. university. The award, which carries a $10,000 prize, honors scholarly excellence in history, social sciences, humanities, education, and fine arts. The submission deadline is April 1, 2025.
Established in 1999, the award continues to uphold the legacy of Sardar Patel, a key leader in India’s independence movement and its first Deputy Prime Minister, known for unifying the nation’s princely states.
Eligible dissertations must have been completed between September 1, 2023, and August 31, 2024, at a U.S.-accredited institution. Applicants must submit a PDF of their dissertation, along with an abstract, a curriculum vitae, and a verification form from their dissertation supervisor or department chair. Submissions must be made online at https://www.international.ucla.edu/cisa/patel.
