Underdog ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ Holds Its Own With ‘Singham Again’
MUMBAI, (ANI) – Despite the overwhelming success of Singham Again, which raked in an impressive Rs 121 crore net in India during its opening weekend, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has emerged as an underdog, holding its own at the box office. Released during the lucrative Diwali season, Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn and directed by Rohit Shetty and featuring a gamut of stars, generated Rs 43.7 crore on its opening day alone, drawing massive crowds to theaters across the country.
In contrast, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee and starring Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan, opened to mixed reviews but still managed to pull in Rs 72.5 crore net in its first two days. Building on its initial momentum, the film added Rs. 33.5 crore on its third day, bringing its total three-day domestic net collection to approximately Rs 106 crore. This impressive performance highlights the enduring popularity of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, which began in 2007 with the original film featuring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan.
While Singham Again leads in total earnings and boasts a wider global reach, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has successfully carved out a niche for itself, capitalizing on Kartik Aaryan’s growing appeal and the persistent interest in the horror-comedy genre. Film critic Taran Adarsh pointed out that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has outperformed Aaryan’s previous major releases, such as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022) and Love Aaj Kal (2020), reflecting the rising popularity of both the actor and the horror-comedy genre in Bollywood.
