CHICAGO, IL – Children’s author Srividhya Venkat is set to release her latest picture book, “Seeker of Truth: Kailash Satyarthi’s Fight to End Child Labor,” on July 23. Illustrated by Danica da Silva Pereira and published by Little Bee Books, this biography highlights the extraordinary life and work of Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi, a tireless advocate for the eradication of child labor.

Satyarthi has dedicated over 40 years to rescuing children from exploitation and advocating for their rights. His innovative approaches to education and empowerment have helped countless children break free from the cycle of poverty and become future leaders. His global awareness campaigns and advocacy for international laws against child slavery have earned him worldwide recognition, culminating in the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, which he shared with Malala Yousafzai.

Srividhya Venkat, who has lived outside of India for over half her life and is now based in the Chicago area, draws inspiration from her motherland in her writing. “I wrote this book to create awareness that child labor still exists today and to showcase the transformative impact of one individual’s efforts,” Venkat explains. Through this poignant and beautifully illustrated story, she aims to inspire readers of all ages to strive to make a difference in their communities and around the world.

“Seeker of Truth: Kailash Satyarthi’s Fight to End Child Labor” is a compelling addition to Venkat’s body of work, which often reflects her deep connection to Indian culture and social justice themes. This upcoming release promises to resonate with readers and provide a meaningful educational resource for parents and educators alike.
